Customers Win with Choice, Savings and Convenience

by Auto Doc on November 17, 2010

The Toyota “peace of mind” Care program advertised in the Idaho Statesman by a local dealership points to the importance of car maintenance. That’s a good thing! The program has some benefits for new car buyers but it is clearly a program to increase sales in service departments by retaining customers who flee dealerships after vehicles are out of warranty.

Free oil changes, tire rotations and roadside assistance are nice benefits for new buyers. The 19 point inspection of items which are covered by the vehicles warranty could be considered a little like using “smoke and mirrors”. If one of the 19 items inspected fails, the repair would be covered by warranty so there would not be a savings for the car owner. Thus the appearance of smoke!

Toyota owners usually are committed to keeping their car maintenance up to date. This program makes it less expensive and more convenient if you live or work close to the dealership. There is a reference to “participating dealers” in a footnote that describes the program, so all dealerships may not be on this program. Toyota owners probably remember that dealership service is not required to keep their new car warranty intact.

Local Auto Repair Shop Confidence

Lady and Son in VanIndependent auto repair shops are very capable of maintaining Toyota cars and trucks, as well as all other makes and models. Working very closely with a neighborhood auto repair shop frequently gives the customers a sense of security because the commnuication process in a small shop makes the perceived distance between the car owner and the mechanic seem smaller, as compared to a new car dealership.

Most car owners are already having their existing cars serviced at their chosen auto repair shop. When a new vehicle is purchased the owner may go to the dealership for a while to get maintenance services. But because of the  perception that dealerships are more expensive or less convenient, most owners return to the local auto shop for needed maintenance.

We at Auto Doctor of  Boise are committed to providing automotive repair and maintenance services for your cars and trucks. When it comes to maintenance services it makes no difference to us if your vehicle is under warranty or not. You will always get great service with quality parts and very clear communication! We guarantee all our work and our commitment to integrity backs up our guarantee.
